Photo escape: Wet spring hiking

Big Cottonwood Hike

Stream crossing after stream crossing made for a fun hike and wet shoes.

Snow melt swells streams as temperatures warm in the spring, especilly in steep canyons. This weekend my sister and I hiked up Mule Hollow in Big Cottonwood Canyon just outside of Salt Lake City. The crossed a small stream no less than 10 times each direction…we quit counting. Laura shot this photo on our way back down the trail so we were on crossing 16 or 17. By this time my shoes were soaked and I’m not sure why I still bothered stepping from rock to rock except for the challenge and fun of the effort.

This week I’ll post more on this hike and another we took on Easter Sunday, but today I have just one photo as a preview. More soon!

  1. Welcome to Utah Erika. You met my colleague Scout Saturday, who referred me to your website. I have pursued similar interests for many years, including introducing those who need a little help with new adventures through my nom de plume, Vacation Science Int. I’m tied up for a while with several projects but will make further contact when time permits.
